Enjoy the beautiful passing scenery before reaching the Pak Ou Caves. Sitting at the confluence of the Mekong and Nam Ou Rivers, these twin caves are carved into the surrounding limestone cliffs, filled with hundreds of ancient Buddha images and statues. Rise early and witness monks collecting alms at dawn, a serene ritual. Watch saffron robes pass quietly through Luang Prabang’s streets. Return for breakfast, then visit Wat Visoun, the city’s most sacred temple.

Visit Wat Aham, a serene temple steeped in local spiritual traditions. Continue to Wat That, where a grand central stupa enshrines the ashes of King Sisavang Vong. Admire the quiet reverence of the site and take in its historical and cultural significance as you explore.

Head into the countryside and reach Kuang Si Waterfalls. Wander through dense jungle trails, soaking in the calm surroundings. Climb the steep path for sweeping views, or ease into the turquoise pools below for a refreshing swim—dress modestly and unwind in nature’s quiet beauty.

A stop can be made at the unique Lao Buffalo Dairy Farm, a social enterprise that produces sustainable and delicious cheese while giving back to the community and environment. While the buffalo may be the stars here, there are also playful pigs, cheeky chickens and rollicking rabbits that are just as fun to interact with for the young and young at heart. Enjoy a homemade ice cream at the cafe before saying goodbye to the Buffaloes and the team.

After breakfast, head south towards Vang Vieng. Proceed to Luang Prabang station and board the train C81 departing Luang Prabang at 13:31, arrival in Vang Vieng at 14:23. Arrive and meet your driver for a smooth transfer to your hotel.

Head to COPE, an organisation supporting landmine victims. Explore exhibits detailing the American–Vietnam War and its legacy. Gain insight into the ongoing dangers of unexploded ordnance, and understand the vital efforts underway to clear affected areas and support local communities.

Continue to Patuxay, Laos’ Arc de Triomphe. Climb the monument’s steps and take in sweeping city views. Head onward to That Luang, the nation’s holiest site. Admire its gleaming golden spire, a striking 16th-century symbol of faith built by King Setthethirat.
