About this Jrny

Get ready to fall head over hiking boots for Namibia — a country that feels like another planet, where red dunes kiss endless skies and the wild still runs free. This journey is all about chasing horizons, spotting creatures straight out of a documentary, and feeling that “How is this even real?” kind of awe at every turn.

We kick off in Windhoek, Namibia’s laid-back capital, before heading into the wild heart of Etosha National Park for epic safaris. Think elephants, lions, giraffes, and quiet, golden sunsets that make you forget what day it is. Then it’s off to the hauntingly beautiful Skeleton Coast, where shipwrecks meet sand dunes and desert-adapted elephants share the stage with seals and jackals. It’s eerie, raw, and ridiculously photogenic.

Next, the pace slows by the ocean in Walvis Bay, a coastal gem where pastel buildings meet the Atlantic breeze. You’ll stroll along beaches, spot flamingos, and soak in that unexpected mix of African soul and European charm. But the showstopper? The Sossusvlei dunes, where burnt-orange sands and twisted trees at Deadvlei create landscapes so surreal they look photoshopped. Climb to the top for sunrise — it’s a “you-have-to-see-it-to-believe-it” moment.

This trip is pure adventure with a side of soul — equal parts wild, weird, and wonderful.... and with MonkeyInc's stamp of approval. Come ready to explore, laugh, and get a little sandy — because Namibia isn’t just a journey; it’s a full-on vibe.

Highlights
  • Go on heart-pounding game drives through Etosha National Park, where lions, elephants, zebras, and ghost-white salt pans create the wildest natural theatre in Namibia.
  • Slow down at Walvis Bay, a dreamy coastal town where flamingos, sea breezes, and pastel sunsets set the vibe.
  • Head out on an epic dolphin & seal cruise, complete with curious seals hopping aboard and dolphins racing alongside your boat like they own the ocean.
  • 4 x 4 experience in the Sandwich harbour where the dunes meet the desert
  • Visit the fascinating Himba community, one of Africa’s last semi-nomadic tribes, and gain insight into their traditions, lifestyle, and incredible red ochre culture.
  • Road-trip along the hauntingly beautiful Skeleton Coast, where shipwrecks, crashing waves, and endless dunes make every kilometre feel like a scene from a survival movie.
  • Witness the surreal beauty of Sossusvlei, home to some of the tallest sand dunes on Earth — glowing red at sunrise and impossibly photogenic all day long.
  • Add on a hot air balloon ride over the Namib Desert (optional but wildly recommended!) — float over rippling dunes as the morning light paints the desert gold.

From Namibia 's Jrnys
Anki isn’t just another content creator on the gram, she’s the spark that ignites adventure. She is friendly, responsive, enthusiastic and resourceful. When she said ‘come with me to Namibia’, even before the trip was announced, I knew I was in. And honestly, it was THE TRIP. Energy attracts energy, right? We were a crew of kindred spirits, and Anki’s buzz was all we needed to make it unforgettable.
Already plotting my next adventure with her, where’s the next “come with me” gonna take us, Anki?

Anki’s 'monkey vibes' are the perfect mix - lots of laughs, but also the kind of deep conversations that make you feel like you truly belong. We hit Namibia’s raw, rugged landscapes in her signature adventurous style, and she created such a safe, comfortable space for us all. It was the exact reset I needed, and I’m already counting the days to my next JrnyOn adventure!

Arrival in Windhoek

Arriving in Windhoek feels like stepping into a warm hug from the African sky — the golden hour here is absolutely magical, and your inner travel animal is going to love it. As soon as you touch down, you're greeted with smiles, wide-open space, and that unmistakable Namibian air that makes your heart skip a beat. We'll whisk you off to your comfy base, where you can unwind and let the travel energy settle in.

In the evening, get ready for a feast — delicious, locally inspired dinner under the stars. Picture crackling candles, soft chatter, and the feeling that this is the very beginning of something epic. The flavours? Bold, fresh, and full of soul — just like the adventures awaiting you. As you dine, the sky shifts into dreamy pinks and purples, and you’ll already start daydreaming about what lies ahead: towering dunes, hidden canyons, and wild surprises.

Fun fact: Windhoek’s name comes from the German “wind corner” — legend has it, the winds swirling through the hills here helped guide early settlers. So as you sit under that wide sky, you’re not just arriving — you’re arriving with purpose. This is your launchpad into Namibia’s wild heart, and trust me, it’s going to be one hell of a ride.

Meals Included: Dinner.

Windhoek to Etosha

We set off from Windhoek full of buzz — the road stretching out like a promise of wild things ahead. As we leave the city behind, the landscape slowly morphs into golden savannahs dotted with acacia trees, and our hearts race because this drive is our first real taste of Africa’s raw beauty. By the time we roll into Etosha, we're grinning so wide, you’d think we’d just discovered a hidden treasure.

After lunch at the lodge (yes, there is food that’s not just biscuits — expect hearty, local-ish grub), we strap in for our first safari drive. The vehicles are rugged, the wind whips past, and every bush, every patch of grass makes us lean in, scanning for movement. Elephants lumber lazily, giraffes stretch their necks to the sky, and antelopes flick their ears — it’s like nature’s own slow-mo wildlife film.

A fun fact? Etosha means “Great White Place” in Oshindonga — a nod to the massive salt pan that becomes a shimmering stage, especially when the sun hits just right. Sometimes you’ll spot black rhinos too, if you’re lucky — they’re one of the rarest mammals around.

By golden hour, we head back to the lodge, exhausted but buzzing. The sky melts into pinks and purples, and the wild symphony of the bush serenades us — distant elephant calls, birds settling in, crickets tuning up. We cozy up over dinner, laugh about what we saw (and missed), and crash into bed under the wild, wild African sky.

A day in Etosha

We wake up buzzing because today is a full-blown Etosha immersion — the kind of day where every corner of the savannah feels like it’s holding its breath, ready to surprise us. Morning light spills over the bush as we head out for our first safari, eyes peeled and spirits high. This is prime time: elephants lumbering to watering holes, lions stretched out like they own the planet (they kinda do), and rhinos giving us that “I see you” side-eye. Fun fact: Etosha’s watering holes are so legendary that National Geographic once called them “nature’s theatre,” and honestly… accurate.

By midday we roll back to the lodge for lunch — refuelling because safari excitement is basically cardio. Then it’s round two: an afternoon game drive where the wilderness shifts mood, colours turning warmer, shadows stretching long, and every sighting feels extra cinematic. Zebras throw us matching-outfit vibes, springboks leap like they’re late for rehearsal, and the sky keeps stealing the show.

As the sun dips, we drift back to the lodge, glowing from dust, joy, and sheer wildlife magic. Dinner tastes even better when the night hums softly around us — crickets, rustling leaves, maybe a distant roar reminding us we’re deep in the wild. Ready for more tomorrow? Always.

Etosha National park - Palmwag

After breakfast, we head out to meet the iconic Himba community, one of Namibia’s last semi-nomadic tribes. We watch their ochre ritual up close — a striking blend of butterfat and red earth that protects their skin and symbolises beauty and identity. Fun fact: the Himba don’t use water for bathing; they “smoke bathe” using aromatic herbs! Spending time in the village feels grounding, a reminder of how deeply culture and land can be intertwined.

From here, we journey towards Palmwag, a landscape that feels carved by ancient winds. After checking into the lodge, we jump into a 4x4 and rumble across the vast concession — think rocky outcrops, surprise oases fringed with palms, and wide-open desert plains that make everything feel infinite. This is prime adventure territory, where every turn teases a new viewpoint, a desert-adapted creature, or a moment that makes us fall in love with Namibia all over again.

In the afternoon you depart on a 4x4 excursion on the lodge concession. The vast conservancy offers breathtaking scenery with rocky outcrops, palm-lined oases, and endless desert plains. It’s a prime destination for adventurous safaris and unforgettable encounters with nature.

Palmwag to Walvis Bay

We hit the road along the infamous Skeleton Coast — a stretch so wild and dramatic it feels like driving through the world’s most beautifully organised chaos. This coastline gets its name from the old shipwrecks scattered like forgotten stories along the shore, battered by the roaring Atlantic. Fun fact: sailors once called it “The Land God Made in Anger”… honestly, we get why. The desert crashes straight into the sea here, and somehow it’s both spooky and breathtaking at the same time.

As we explore with our guide, keep your eyes peeled — this harsh land is home to desert-adapted elephants, hundreds of seals lounging like they own the place, and the occasional jackal trotting with full confidence. Adventurers and photographers absolutely lose their minds here, and so do we.

We continue towards Swakopmund, where palm-lined streets and German-inspired buildings suddenly appear like an alternate universe. After soaking in the coastal charm, we reach Walvis Bay, check into our hotel, and ease into a relaxed evening — ocean breeze, salty air, and pure Namibian magic.

A day in Walvis Bay

After breakfast, we make our way to Walvis Bay Port — and trust us, today is one of those days that feeds the soul and the thrill seeker. The lagoon looks calm at first glance, but beneath that glassy surface lives an entire cast of ocean celebrities: sea lions doing their chaotic yoga poses, dolphins slicing through the water like sassy torpedoes, and—if the season’s on our side—even whales making grand, slow-motion appearances.

We step onto our boat for a marine adventure that feels part safari, part science class, part “omg is that real?”. We keep our eyes peeled for playful dolphins, majestic mola (yes, the adorable weird sunfish), and seals that behave like they’re auditioning for a nature documentary. Light snacks appear on board — oysters included, because we love our chaos with a touch of fancy.

By afternoon, the pace is yours to choose. Nap, explore, quad bike, kayak, dune it up — the coast is basically a playground waiting to be conquered.

Walvis Bay to Solitaire

We kick off the morning with breakfast and then dive straight into the kind of road trip that feels almost unreal — the landscapes slowly shifting until suddenly the Namib Desert stretches out in front of us like an endless ocean of sand. This isn’t just any desert; it’s one of the world’s oldest and a UNESCO World Heritage site that’s basically been perfecting its look for 55 million years. The dunes glow, the horizon ripples with heat, and the whole place feels like nature showing off.

Lunch happens along the way — simple, scenic, and very “yep, we’re actually doing this.” By the time we reach the lodge, the desert opens up around us and the vibe becomes pure magic. We flop into bar chairs, cool off by the pool, and take in views so cinematic they look AI-generated.

As the sun drops, the dunes shift into deep reds and purples, and it’s impossible not to fall quiet for a moment. This sunset? One for the soul. Dinner at the lodge caps off the day — full bellies, warm hearts, desert dreams loading.

Solitaire - Sossusvlei - Sesriem

We rise before sunrise, buzzing with excitement as the desert shifts from deep indigo to fiery gold. This is the magic hour in Sossusvlei, when some of the highest dunes on the planet glow like they’re lit from within. We wander into this surreal dreamscape, chasing colours that keep changing every minute. Fun fact: some of these dunes are over 5 million years old, making the Namib one of the world’s oldest deserts!

Then comes Deadvlei — a place that genuinely looks like another planet. We stand among those ancient camel thorn trees, some dead for nearly 900 years, yet still perfectly preserved. It’s the kind of place that leaves us grinning and speechless at the same time.

After soaking in the desert’s wild beauty, we head to Sesriem Canyon in the afternoon. Carved by the Tsauchab River over millions of years, its twisting walls make us feel tiny in the best possible way. We wrap up the day with lunch and dinner at our lodge, still buzzing from landscapes that feel almost too unreal to be real.

Solitaire to Windhoek

Before we head back to Windhoek, let’s treat ourselves to a sunrise hot-air balloon ride over the desert — picture us floating above shifting dunes, pink-gold morning light dancing on sand. (Optional, but honestly, how often do we get to feel like real sky-monkeys?) Then we roll through the ever-changing landscapes, driving via the Khomashochland mountain range — those rugged, otherworldly ridges look like something from a sci-fi movie.

On the way, we’ll stop for a relaxed lunch — hopefully under a shady tree, with good company, good food, and plenty of opportunity to soak in the view. Back in Windhoek, we check in to our hotel and then stretch our legs for a quick city stroll — some local markets, a few shops for souvenirs, and maybe a hidden café where we sip something strong and local. As the sun sets, we dive into a dinner at a local restaurant — think authentic flavours, laughter around the table, and stories of the day.

Fun fact: Namibia’s capital, Windhoek, sits at about 1,650 m above sea level, making it one of Africa’s highest capitals — not quite on the moon, but close enough when you’re in a balloon! By the end of the day, we’ve woven together sky-high magic, desert drama, and city vibes — the perfect Monkey Inc. mix of wild and warm.

As the sun rises, the landscape transforms into a surreal mix of colours, with shadows stretching over the rippled sand dunes, offering an unparalleled view of one of the most iconic desert landscapes on Earth.

Depart Windhoek

We wrap up our Namibian adventure with hearts full and spirits buzzing, because this country doesn’t just give you views — it gives you stories that cling to your soul. This final morning hits differently as we leave behind ochre dunes, salt-dust roads, and streaks of gold light that made every sunrise feel like the world was being created just for us. We cruise back towards Windhoek, replaying all those wild, beautiful moments: the echoing silence of the desert, the comical chaos of Cape Cross’s seal colonies, and those nights where the Milky Way felt close enough to scoop up with our hands.

Fun fact: Namibia is one of the least densely populated countries on Earth — which explains why every horizon here feels endless, and why the land seems to breathe around you. That’s the magic we’re packing in our bags today.

As we head to the airport and say our goodbyes, we’re not just ending a trip — we’re sealing a memory that stays loud, colourful, and wonderfully unfiltered. Namibia, you’ve been a dream with dusty boots and blazing skies, and we’re carrying your wild heartbeat home with us.
